Youth Advocacy Network (YAN)
Youth Advocacy Network (YAN) on Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) was formed by a group of youth participants across Pakistan in January 2005 at the end of a training workshop organized by World Population Foundation (WPF) Pakistan -in collaboration with the Dutch youth group CHOICE. We aim at creating a forum for dialogue, discussion, and cooperation about sexual & reproductive health, & rights of young people in Pakistan.
VISION
Our vision is that young people participate fully and are represented at policy level, in all youth related SRHR policies and programmes in Pakistan.
MISSION
To improve the quality of life of young people, by campaigning for the protection and promotion of their Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights through advocacy; to reduce high risks sexual behavior in youth by behavioral Interventions; and to organize young people into groups, building their capacity so that they can play their role as agents of change in their communities.
Since the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994, the international community has consistently reaffirmed the right of young people to age-appropriate reproductive health information and services that safeguard their rights to privacy, confidentiality, respect and informed consent. The international community also has reaffirmed that the rights and responsibilities of parents to provide guidance in such matters should not prevent young people from having access to the information and services they need to enjoy good reproductive health.
YAN strives for young people to keep shining and shedding the light of awareness on SRHR issues to build a healthy nation.
