Research Framework
The research design for this study will employ 3 basic instruments:
- National field E-survey (with 300 Respondents),
- 24 FGDs (and)
- 33 In-depth experts' interviews
E-Survey A national level e-survey will be conducted with 350 knowledge bearers of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). This will provide sound technical information as well as data on the situation on ground with regard to the state of SRH Rights in Pakistan.
Mailing lists of various local organizations were requested for; containing specifically the information regarding SRH experts. It is proposed that we take a random sample ensuring that the representation from the target districts is optimal. The knowledge bearers will ideally belong to organizations having experience of working with young people vis-à-vis their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) 10 Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) will be held with groups of young people, civil society representatives, government officials and sensitized media personnel. These FGDs will provide an opportunity to directly involve the stakeholders and gather their views on the various dimensions having an affect vis-à-vis the 12 SRH Rights.
The proposed break-down for the 24 FGDs is as follows:
GROUP
Adolescents (between ages of 12 – 17)
Representatives of Youth (between ages of 18 – 24)
Representatives of Civil Society Organizations and Media
Religious Leaders
Transgender people
Young Sex Workers
Teachers (Male and Female)
In-depth Interviews 33 in-depth interviews will be conducted with Sexual and Reproductive Health experts across the country. This will help to validate the information/data collected at the time of the e-survey. Moreover, it will also help to brainstorm for a way forward and chalk out possible strategies to effectively meet the various challenges being faced in the realization of the SRH Rights.
