First Capacity Building Forum


“Capacity Building forum was held in Islamabad from 9–11 April 2009 for the National Youth Task Force (NYTF), which comprises of 20 young, energetic members from across Pakistan. The main responsibility of the National Youth Task Force is to follow up on the recommendations drawn at the conclusion of National Youth Summit 2008 through a logical, systematic and result oriented strategy and plan of action.

The Capacity Building forum followed a systematic approach, where on the first day NYTF members were given an orientation about the youth situation and their role as youth ambassadors. A session on “Policy: Theory and Practice” was conducted by renowned economist, Mr. Kaiser Bengali, focusing on how policies are made and what role the youth can play to change those to make them more youth friendly. On the second day participants met with Policy Experts, Dr. Sania Nishtar, Mr. Talib Siyal, Mr. Sami Khan and Dr. Ali Mir who briefed them on policies relating to Health, Youth Affairs, Education and Population Welfare respectively. The third day was marked by Ministry consultations where the NYTF members had a fruitful discussion, putting forward their recommendations before the Ministry. The next capacity building forum of the NYTF is scheduled for July 2009. “
