Training of Teachers from Madaris

WPF has recently initiated a project for young girls and boys in Madaris with a goal to improve the quality of life of young people in Madaris of Pakistan by providing them Life Skill Based Education that empowers students to adopt safe health seeking behaviours and protect them from abuse, exploitation, drugs and diseases.

The project aims of achieving the following outcomes:

  • Madaris youth having skills, knowledge and attitudes which help them make informed decisions, manage feelings, communicate effectively with others and practice positive, health-seeking behaviour.
  • Model for LSBE for scaling up in Madaris of Pakistan and/or in the region.

The project is implemented with Madaris in Peshawar and Quetta with the support from implementing partners, Pakistan Village Development Programme (PVDP) and Participatory Integrated Development Society (PIDS) in twelve Madaris (six male and six females).

Training of Teachers

After the training of core Rehber Committee members as master trainers, two teachers training were held with teachers from Madaris. The objective was to equip them with knowledge and skills to implement the LSBE programme with young boys and girls in their Madaris and draft a work plan for its implementation.

The two day trainings of female and male teachers from 12 Madaris were held on 11th and 12th April 2009 and 18th and 19th April 2009 in Peshawar and Quetta respectively.
