WPF has two parts of its knowledge management system
- IT for Development
- Resource Centre
IT for Development
WPF is working on the issues of SRHR for last 11 years in Pakistan and its Information Technology Department department has evolved from managing setting up IT infrastructure to ‘IT for Development’ Programme’ to enhance out reach of its programmes.
Objectives:
- Strengthen IT infrastructure of WPF
- Development of LSBE Portal
- WPF Pakistan Website Management
- To raise the profile of the IT department internally and externally.
- To continually improve department documentation and standards.
- To formalise the training needs of staff through the preparation of a staff development programme.
- To provide mentoring and support to IT staff, in order to transfer knowledge on new technologies and methods.
Activities:
Besides regular updating and management of WPF website, and managing LAN, IT department has been responsible for developing LSBE portal with the objective to create a user-friendly depository of information/clearing house on ‘Life Skill Based Education’. The e.newsletter, progress and event reports are posted at WPF website and updated regularly.
WPF Pakistan’s website management is another key task of the IT department. It is a continuous process which remains throughout the period. It aims to maintain dynamic and static pages, keep up to date the information available over the web and monitoring the web trafficking. IT and Communication team jointly update news on website time to time. Communication team is responsible for the preparation of the documents to be uploaded and IT department helps in designing and layout of the documents and putting forward that information over the web.
SRHR Resource Centre:
WPF has a Resource Centre which has almost 1700 publication on topics such as SRHR, HIV & AIDS, Population, Gender and Life Skills etc. The resource centre at present is used by WPF staff and partners. However, WPF has a plan to upgrade the resource centre and open it for researchers, medi and students interested in SRHR issues.
