SRHR Research launched
World Population Foundation (WPF), Pakistan under its European Union funded project, “Rights Driven Institutionalization of Sexual and Reproductive Health in Pakistan” has initiated the process of preliminary secondary research.
In this realm literature review pertaining to the 12 Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, and situational analysis of various parts of the world (with special emphasis on Pakistan) is currently underway. Moreover, each right is being analyzed against the national laws and policies that endorse it as well as the service infrastructure that ensures its effective implementation.
The desk review, which will conclude in the month of March will serve as a preliminary document providing an overview of the current status of SRH in Pakistan to the Expert Panel, which is scheduled to meet in April 2009.
Moreover, an expert panel of SRH specialists has been formed to guide the study. An International Consultant will also be engaged to finalize “Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Assessment Framework” (SeHRAF) and the “National Report on Status of SRHR of Young People in Pakistan”.
